A police stakeout on a marijuana field in Iowa ends in a shootout, leaving one officer and one drug dealer dead. An autopsy reveals the dealer was not killed by a police bullet, so deputy sheriff Carl Houseman sets out to investigate a local drug lord.

When police officer Carl Houseman starts his shift late one night, he thinks it will be another uneventful evening, but then he finds out that four people have been murdered in his quiet town, and he begins a manhunt that leads him to a Satanic cult, lesbian lovers, and his own fellow policemen.
